Privacy policy

This is a courtesy translation. The German version (Datenschutzerklärung) is the legally binding text.

The protection of your personal data matters to us. In accordance with Art. 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), this policy explains which data is processed when you visit this website and when you send press inquiries.

1. Controller

The controller within the meaning of the GDPR is:
Benjamin Holz Film, Benjamin Holz
Drawehnertorstr. 9, 29456 Hitzacker (Elbe), Germany
Email: ben@eddy-film.de

2. Summary

  • This website uses no cookies, no tracking, no web analytics and no advertising or social media services.
  • There is a form for press inquiries (section 4), but no registration and no newsletter.
  • All files, including videos and fonts, are delivered from this server. No content from third parties is loaded.
  • No information is stored on or read from your device.

3. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin (“STRATO”). When you open the website, your browser automatically sends data to the server. This data is processed in server log files: IP address, date and time of access, requested file or URL, access status and amount of data transferred, browser and operating system information and, where applicable, the previously visited page (referrer).

Purpose: technically error-free delivery of the website and ensuring stability and security. The data is not evaluated for marketing or analysis purposes and not combined with other data.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and stable operation of the website).
Storage period: According to the hosting provider, IP addresses are stored only briefly to detect and defend against attacks; the access logs available to us contain the IP address only in anonymised form. We do not store the data any longer.

The hosting provider processes the data on our behalf. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place.

4. Press inquiries

You can send an inquiry via the form in the “Press” section. Your name, media outlet or editorial team, email address and message are transmitted and forwarded by our server to us as an email. The server does not store this data in a database or log file. Providing this information is voluntary; without it we cannot process your inquiry. To protect against automated requests, the form contains a hidden field and measures the time until it is submitted; these values are not stored.

We also process data you send us directly by email. Our mailbox is provided by the hosting provider, who processes the emails as a processor.

Purpose: answering your inquiry.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering press inquiries); where the inquiry aims at a contract or pre-contractual measures, Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.
Storage period: We delete your data as soon as it is no longer needed for its purpose, usually after the inquiry has been settled. Statutory retention obligations remain unaffected.

5. Cookies and access to your device

This website does not set cookies and does not store or read information on your device (§ 25 TDDDG). A consent prompt (“cookie banner”) is therefore not required.

6. Videos and downloads

The teaser and the files in the press section are hosted on this server. No connection to video platforms (e.g. YouTube or Vimeo) is established. When playing or downloading, only the usual server log data from section 3 is generated.

7. Recipients and third countries

The recipient of the data is the hosting provider as a processor. Beyond that, we do not pass your data on to third parties unless we are legally obliged to do so. We do not transfer data to countries outside the EU or the EEA.

8. Your rights

You have the following rights with regard to your personal data:

  • Access (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)

To exercise your rights, an informal message to the address above is sufficient.

Right to object under Art. 21 GDPR

You have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you which is based on Art. 6 (1) (e) or (f) GDPR. We will then no longer process the data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

Right to lodge a complaint

Under Art. 77 GDPR you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is: Der Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen, Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hannover, Germany (lfd.niedersachsen.de).

9. Provision of data, automated decisions

Processing the server log data is technically necessary to be able to open the website. Information given in an inquiry is voluntary. There is no automated decision-making, including profiling, under Art. 22 GDPR.

10. Data protection officer

We have not appointed a data protection officer because the requirements of § 38 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) (as a rule at least 20 persons constantly engaged in automated processing of personal data) are not met. For questions about data protection you can reach us at ben@eddy-film.de.

11. Up to date

As of October 2026. We will adapt this policy if the website or the legal situation changes.
